ARTIST STATEMENT

By carving light from shadow, a figure emerges.

Each form that materializes onto her surface is seemingly rooted in reality but, upon further inspection, shifts into the otherworldly. Borges approaches her paintings with delicacy and intricacy. Every brush stroke is intentional so viewers can feel the deliberate merging of elements. Each work seems to touch on a profound but perhaps unconscious connection to something greater, existing in the shadows of awareness.

A common motif in Borges's work is brutality carefully entwined with beauty. She believes that destruction, or death, is not a damaging force but a natural and essential part of metamorphosis. What we may perceive as a dreadful part of reality is only a transformation that births improvement and creation.

While Borges's artwork may begin as an expression of her thoughts, emotions, or experiences, its significance extends beyond the individual creator. Her paintings may convey personal insights or perspectives. However, their value lies in their ability to communicate with others on a subconscious level. She invites observers to traverse the liminal space where mutation is possible but has not yet been fully realized.

"Nothing dies; all is transformed."
